Mediator is designed to provide a number of functions in regards to keeping information current on multiple databases at different locations or between different database vendors. The primary functions which it provides are:
1.Synchronize the local database with the information found on a local server database. 2.Synchronize two disparate database on the same or different data servers. 3.Provides control of these synchronization at the table level as well as the actual selection criteria. 4.Provides on demand synchronization. 5.Provides synchronization based on a specific time or elapsed time. 6.Provides synchronization based on a polling strategy. The uses of the program are for hands off maintenance of common data across different databases and systems. The other use that it could be applied to is to mobile computing. The system has been designed to be parameter driven as much as possible so that to add a table to be synchronized is a simple maintenance task. The program uses either native API's or ODBC to communicate with the databases to synchronize. |
